About Wailupe Farms

Waimanalo, Oʻahu · Est. 2011

How It Started

In 2011, we won a 35-year public lease on 3.7 acres at 41-977 Kakaina Street in Waimanalo — land that had been taken over completely by invasive trees. Albizia, macaranga, and African tulip had choked out everything else.

We didn't haul any of it away. We chipped every last tree and turned that biomass back into the earth. Years of invasive growth became the foundation for rebuilding degraded soil into rich, productive farmland.

That philosophy — restore, don't remove — is still at the heart of how we farm today.

Naturally Grown. Community Focused.

We practice organic, sustainable methods with a focus on pest management and soil health — growing high-quality produce for Waimanalo and beyond.

🌱

Naturally Grown

We avoid synthetic pesticides and prioritize soil health, beneficial insects, and natural pest management. The land guides what we grow.

🤝

Community Mission

Fighting food insecurity in Hawaii has been our mission since day one. We grow for our neighbors, our markets, and our community.

🏝️

Waimanalo Roots

This land is in Waimanalo — one of Oahu's last agricultural communities. We're committed to keeping it farming, not development.

🔄

Circular Systems

From composting invasive biomass to building closed-loop soil systems, we believe the farm should feed itself as much as possible.

The Farm Today

Today, Wailupe Farms grows a diverse mix of tropical produce — lilikoi, turmeric, breadfruit (ʻulu), tomatoes, cucumbers, cacao, and more. We also offer equipment hire to our neighbors and organic compost sales to the broader Oahu community.

We're currently expanding into microgreens with a new greenhouse and hydroponic grow towers, adding year-round production of radish, sunflower, pea shoots, and broccoli microgreens.

You can find us at the Waimanalo Market and local farmers markets around Oahu, or reach us directly to order from the farm.
